Problem:  Hooking

Hooking can be caused by the club being swung too much in to out. This forces the hands to close the club face trough impact to bring the ball back to target. If not the ball goes way right of your target.

To make sure your swing path goes down the target line, place a shoe box on the inside of the target line before the ball. See picture (1). Check that there is space for the shaft to swing forward, down the target line without hitting the box.

At first the balls will start straight and then turn left, (hooking). This is because your hands are closing the clubface (old habit). After some practice your hand will learn to keep the face square through impact.

Work on this and you will start to get much straighter ball flights.

If you still have some problems see your local PGA Professional.
